The Affordable Care Act (ACA), which was signed into law in the United States in 2010, requires health plans to cover breastfeeding support and supplies.
If you have a private insurance carrier or commercial insurer, then this law applies to you. I strongly encourage you to take the time to understand the coverage and benefits available to you through your insurance plan.
Services that I can provide include:
- Post-partum in-home full consultations and follow-up visits
- Prenatal breastfeeding classes
- Back to work basics- Using a breastpump while away from baby
I am an in-network provider with Aetna, Independence Blue Cross (Personal Choice and Keystone Health Plan East) and most BCBS plans! Please check your with your specific insurance plan to see what lactation coverage you have through women’s preventative services. Payment arrangements can be made for other insurance plans as well.
